A striking close-up pose of a male red-breasted merganser makes this hand-painted MILFORD cachet a cover with visual impact. The ragged crest of vivid green head feathers makes this duck stand out as unique in the waterfowl community. The brilliant natural colors of the merganser are complemented by my addition of a bed of mixed pastel flowers.

The high value $15 migratory bird stamp is tied to the cover with a fine pictorial First Day of Issue postmark. Only 140 MILFORD Covers were produced for this issue.
