1994 DELAWARE

The hand-painted cachet for this MILFORD First Day of Issue features a flock of snow geese in their "blue phase". This is how they appear when all of their feathers are not pure white which is how most people always think of them. The geese forage for corn kernels amid the browning stalks of a rolling field. Despite Delaware's smal1 size, much of the land is used for agriculture.

The new five dollar stamp has a Dover postmark and 139 covers were produced for this issue.
