Black Ducks by David Lanier
Fred's Anecdotal Note
1996 GEORGIA
In the dense backwater area of Georgia a black duck takes refuge in the lush forest. This waterfowl does not have colorful markings but in this handpainted MILFORD Cachet the vivid variety of plant life and the deep blue water provide the perfect setting to display its basic beauty. Nearby an opossum hangs from its tail which is a common trait for these curious animals. With the large and detailed duck combining with the bold watercolors and picturesque setting, this cachet exceeded my expectations.
The $5.50 stamp has an Athens, Georgia postmark. The serial numbers used with the prefix of fifty were 664L to 679 making only 150 of this cover produced.
