 Shovelers by Kevin Daniel

Fred's Anecdotal Note

1997 Minnesota

A curious woodchuck stands erect on a point of ground at the edge of a Minnesota lake. In the foregound, a pair of Shoveler Ducks display their prominent spoon-like bills used like "shovels" to gather their diet of small aquatic plant life. The hand painting of this Milford cachet provides a vivid rendition from the Land of Lakes.

Of special note is the "Flying V" pictorial postmark from Rochester. It is one of my all-time favorite cancels. Only 150 covers were produced for this limited edition with stamp serial numbers 12631to 12780.
