ROCK 'N ROLL -- RHYTHM & BLUES

Otis Redding

Otis Redding was only twenty-six years old when he died in a plane crash on December 10, 1967 near Madison, Wisconsin.

During his career he refined the "shouting method" of singing used in church and revival meetings to more of a combination of soul and Rock 'n Roll technique. One of his top hits was "Try a Little Tenderness" and also his "Respect" was a big success. My hand-painted cachet captures the mood of a third hit song -- "The Dock of the Bay" and I also show a large keyboard representing Redding's instrumental talent.

To the left of the cover is a hand-painted portrait of Otis, and it is done in the same style and format which has been the trademark of this COLLINS set. Striking a relaxed and happy pose, Redding is portrayed at the height of his career just before the tragic accident. Another feature of this Rock 'n Roll set of seven is the hand-painted lettering that really gives the set an added visual appeal. This is the fourth and middle cover that I've offered with Buddy Holly, Clyde McPhatter and Elvis Presley to be announced soon. Otis Redding. Item #T2105. $10.75.
