ROCK 'N ROLL -- RHYTHM & BLUES

Dinah Washington

Dinah Washington was a great rhythm and blues artist who performed with Lionel Hampton's band from 1942 to 1946. Two of her greatest hits were "Stormy Weather" and "What a Difference a Day Makes". Choosing the second title as a theme for my hand-painted cachet, a new day is dawning as Mr. Sun rises over a tree-lined hill symbolizing that a new day certainly offers a chance for positive changes in a life. It's a cheerful, sunny cachet that makes you feel good just looking at it and I thought it a better artistic choice than the other title, "Stormy Weather".

As with the previously offered Ritchie Valens, a nice portrait of Dinah is an important part of this COLLINS FDC. I've captured her in her younger years in a most flattering pose -- after all she did launch her career when she won an amateur singing contest at the age of fifteen. My Dinah wears a low-cut dress, a fur stole, and stylish jewelry.

All of the covers in this set have hand-painted lettering.

Doing this adds time required for completion, but I believe it adds a lot to the final appearance. This set is absolutely going to be something special to behold upon completion, and I'm really happy with the way it is evolving. These covers handle the subject matter with dignity and class and I think they are destined to become classics. Easily recognizable with a distinctive format, this COLLINS set will be one of the year's finest. A rhythm and blues performing arts legend. Dinah Washington. Item #T2107. $10.75.
