When first saw the vivid and colorful sheet of twenty vintage American airplanes, I was almost awe-struck. They are absolutely beautiful! ''m sure most of you have seen them by now and know first-hand that they are very attractive. I believe that they will always be sought on cover because aviation history has great appeal and always will Knowing that Collins Cachets have a very powerful reputation to uphold, I determined right from the beginning of this project that my covers would be FORCEFUL and DYNAMIC. I can report now that my mission was accomplished and that my full set of twenty-one stunning cachets will provide the hobby standard for collectors of this incredible issue.

Bold, colorful and dynamic. This hand-painted Collins set is a magnificent group of First Day Covers. A large in-flight rendition of each of these Classic Aircraft will take up most of the envelope area. Also, I've chosen a particularly bold print style for the lettering that will set Collins Cachets apart. Most of all it is the vivid and realistic watercolors that will bring these exciting FDCs to life. You will be delighted with the technical accuracy of the designs and the sheer hand-painted beauty of these early planes. Indeed these classic machines of fabric, wood and metal were the airborne pioneers of the Wild Blue Yonder.

Here is a brief glimpse of what this marvelous set has in store for you The 1911 Wright Brothers Model-B Biplane and the famous Curtiss JN-4 ("Jenny") born as a World War I pilot trainer and converted afterward to a reliable U.S. mail plane + The legendary Ford Tri-Motor Transport made of all metal and known as the "Tin Goose" plus the six-passenger 1930 Northrop Alpha bringing a "new look" to U.S. skies + The Gee Bee which was a powerful innovative racer that could only be fully handled by master pilots, and the Staggerwing built by Beech for transporting executives but was so speedy it won the 1936 Bendix Transcontinental Air Race + The famous Boeing 314 "Flying Boat" Clipper which provided luxurious international air travel across oceans and the reliable Douglas DC-3 of which 10,000 served in World War II and to this day carry passengers and freight around the world + The Piper Cub which is the most famous of all light aircraft and the sleek Vega in which Amelia Earhart soloed across the Atlantic and across the United States - both "firsts" for a woman. + The P-26 "Peashooter" - America's first all-metal, low winger fighter, and the Stearman Trainer in which many World War II pilots learned their basics. Both were made by Boeing + The sleek Martin B-10 Bomber of the 1930's and the incredible B-1 7 "Flying Fortress" of World War II fame + The Grumman F4F Wildcat which was the Navy fighter that outfought Japanese Zero's at Midway, the Coral Sea, and Guadalcanal plus the powerful North American P-51 Mustang that was rated by many as World War ll's best fighter + The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was called the "Fork-Tailed Devil" by the Germans, and the Vought Corsair that served both in World War Il and Korea + The elegant and sleek Constellation which was beloved by passengers and pilots (affectionately known as "Connie") and the B-47 Stratojet which began a new generation of large jet aircraft + And, as a special addition exclusively for Collins collectors, my set will include a special cover that spans the years of this Classic American Aircraft set. Featured on it will be the early Curtiss D which was a favorite of early exhibition pilots and the state-of-the-art North American Sabre Jet which was the dominant fighter in the Korean War. A total of twentyone different and spectacular hand-painted cachets.
