Cary Grant

Archibald Alec Leach was born in Bristol, England in 1904. As Cary Grant, he eventually appeared in over 100 movies, many in a starring role. His films ranged from wacky comedies to exciting psychological dramas. Grant was a teenage runaway who made a living as an acrobat and juggler in traveling circus shows in Britain. He emigrated to the United States in 1931 and immediately began appearing in motion pictures. One of his earliest starring roles was in 1936's Bringing Up Baby. In it, he raises a leopard named Baby, and my hand painted cachet shows the handsome leading man interacting with the full-grown leopard. It will be an excellent addition to your collection.

This "Legends of Hollywood" series has been very popular with Collins collectors. If you're relatively new to my cachets, or, if you missed any of the past yearly FDCs, I've listed them below. As an interesting sidelight, for the "Alfred Hitchcock" stamp, my cachet depicted an exciting Cary Grant scene from the movie North by Northwest, which was directed by Hitchcock.
