Nurturing Love
Robin Hood and Maid Maria
Collins Cover Announcement
Romantic Couples of History and the World
Robin Hood and Maid Marian
For the new Nurturing Love envelope, I have continued the very popular Romantic Couples of History and the World cachet series. This hand painted cachet takes you to Sherwood Forest in merry olde England. With their backs to a mighty oak, Robin has an arrow notched and pulls back on the string of his longbow. No doubt he is protecting his fair Maid Marian from the soldiers sent forth by his arch enemy — the Sheriff of Nottingham.
Folk legends are always a popular collectible subject, and you will "love" adding this cover to your collection. The detail is marvelous. * Robin's feathered cap and large hilted sword * Maid Marian's face that conveys both apprehension about their perilous situation and confidence in her hero * The large Sherwood oak symbolizing the theme of the stamp design, which shows a heart-shaped plant being nurtured.
I'm very pleased to present this new "Romantic Couples" cachet in which Cupid's bow has been replaced by a sturdy bow in the steady hands of the legendary Robin Hood as he defends his true love — the beautiful Maid Marian. Collins #W3601 - $12.25
