John Wayne - Actor in Sands of Iwo Jima

Although John Wayne is best remembered for his many western roles, his first Academy Award nomination was for his portrayal of Marine Sergeant Stryker in 1949's Sands of lwo Jima. This World War II battle film became the legendary combat movie that brought to the big screen the intense Pacific Island fighting of the Second World War.

My hand painted cachet shows Wayne holding his rifle.
