Disney Characters

Bambi & Thumper

Subscriber Only Edition

Cover Announcement

Pinocchio and Bamb

Since they were first unveiled by the Postal Service last December, the four new stamps featuring the Art of Disney have been eagerly anticipated and awaited by the hobby. It now looks like there will be at least a total of twelve stamps in this Disney series with four to be issued in each of the next two years. Be sure to add these individually hand painted cachets to your holdings as this Disney series will surely be highly collectible instantly and will become even more desirable as the years go by.

For starters, I am announcing Pinocchio and Bambi. Each is in the company of his cartoon friends in the cachet artwork. The inquisitive Bambi encounters Flower the skunk in a cluster of colorful wildflowers while Thumper the rabbit rolls on the forest floor in a fit of laughter. In the other cover, Pinocchio the puppet, who would become a real boy, is surrounded by a familiar cast of characters. Working on his creation, Gepetto places the finishing touches on Pinocchio's face while Figaro the cat looks on approvingly. From avantage point nearby, Jiminy Cricket, who will become the boy's confidante and conscience, watches with interest. These two cachets, which are done in vivid watercolors, pay tribute to the Disney artists who brought all of the magic alive for the youth of America and ultimately the world.

In 1928, a mouse named Mickey made his debut as "Steamboat Willie" in the first synchronized sound cartoon. The creative genius of Walt Disney was a gift to the youth of America, and the little mouse has become a famous icon on the world's stage. From that modest beginning of the first cartoon, the magical world of Disney has grown and expanded to bring fun and laughter into the lives of virtually everyone. These covers will appeal to almost every collector.

I am pleased that the four 2004 Disney stamps and those that will follow can now be part of our philatelic hobby. They are rich in genuine Americana, and I urge you not to miss obtaining these two wonderful hand painted cachets for your collection before they sell out. You might want to consider an extra or two for future sale, trade, or as special keepsake gifts. I am honored to offer these first two covers and those that will follow as a tribute to the legacy of Walt Disney and to the artists who brought his lovable characters to life. Collins #R3802 - Bambi and #R3804 - Pinocchio at $12.25 each.
