Benjamin Franklin

Collins Cover Announcement
Benjamin Franklin - Statesman
This is the fourth and final cover that I'll be offering for this mini-set. If you missed any of the first three, be sure to pick them up at this time. I'm very gratified to see that Benjamin is very popular with my collectors, and that translates into the fact that this set of four will remain attractive to Collins collectors in the years ahead.
Franldin was a valuable and gifted statesman for his new country. Were it not for his age and the extremely important diplomatic missions for which he was called upon, he certainly would have had a chance of being elected as one of our early presidents. As it turns out, he remains one of our most beloved and respected founding fathers. His role as a vital statesman for the new United States of America is undeniable. Franklin served in the Continental Congress and signed both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Considered America's first diplomat, he negotiated our important alliance with France and the eventual peace treaty with England. He actually spent much time in those countries working on behalf of his own.
The stamp on this cover is at the lower left, and it's canceled with the wonderful pictorial postmark showing Benjamin in profile. I believe that the placement of the stamps (one in each corner) and the securement of this distinctive cancellation will help to make this Collins set of four the most recognized and collected of any cachetmaker. My individually hand painted cachet shows a portrait of Ben in his later years and also sitting at a conference table conducting the affairs of state. It's the final companion piece for the three previous covers, although each cachet in this series can stand on its own. I'm pleased to announce this final cover for a man and patriot that I personally admire very much. Benjamin Franklin — Statesman. Collins #F4101 — $13.25.
