13-Mile Woods

Errol, New Hampshire

Collins Cover Announcement

13 -Mile Woods

For wildlife and Americana enthusiasts, this cover is one that you'll love. The setting is the magnificent Androscoggin River in northern New Hampshire. A large bull moose with spreading antlers has made his way to the edge of the water. His attention is drawn to a cow moose and her young calf standing in shallow water across the river. As a backdrop, a forested panorama of northern New England offers a splendid view of spruce, hemlock, pine, and hardwoods. Rolling hills and a distant mountain lay beneath a colorful sky coordinated with the attractive color of the new stamp which is a seventy-two cent airmail issue.

The forest tract known as 13-Mile Woods consists of 2,754 acres on the eastern side of the Androscoggin. It was forever preserved with a forest legacy conservation easement on August 4, 1997. The western side had been protected more than 25 years previously. This wonderful area can now be enjoyed in its natural state by the citizens of New Hampshire and all those who enjoy the great outdoors.

As motorists drive throughout northern New England, the quest is always the hope of spotting an elusive moose. That search will end successfully for your Collins collection as three of the beautiful creatures roam the pristine forests of 13-Mile Woods. Collins #R4401 —$13.75.
