THANKSGIVING

(Two Stamps)

For the four new stamps issued for Thanksgiving, I decided to do two cachets. The first one is a the traditional symbol of this American holiday — the wild turkey.

It's late November, and the corn has been harvested. In the farmer's field, a flock of wild turkeys search for remnants of golden kernels. In the foreground, a tom in full display stands guard. In the background, a barn, silo, and outbuildings stand ready to offer shelter for livestock and equipment during the coming winter months. In the unseen farmhouse, preparations are underway for the upcoming Thanksgiving feast.

The colors of these two stamps are a perfect autumn blend. A large turkey balloon leads the festive parade, but I much prefer the reality of nature — thus this Americana cachet. Hand painted in beautiful watercolors, I'm pleased to offer my "Wild Turkeys in Harvested Field." Collins #Z4601 —$14.50.
