Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation
50th Anniversary
Collins Cover Announcement
FEDERAL DEPOSIT INSURANCE CORPORATION
The FDIC is a federal aaency created to protect bank depositor's Savings and this stamp marked the 50th Anniversary of its creation. Today this federal insurance protects accounts up to $100,000 in the event of bank failures. If a bank does fail, it does so because it is operating in the "red". I think I probably obtained the best unofficial cancel for this issue --as what could be better than Red Bank. A sinale has the official "First Day of Issue" hand cancel from Washington, D.C. and an additional single has the unofficial hand cancel from Red Bank, N.J. (of course in red ink).
The handpainted cachet shows a bank building from the era of half a century ago. The colors used go very well with those of the stamps, and I think you will enjoy the overall appearance.
Item No. R701 - Price $5.50
