LOVE

The handpainted cachet for this year's love stamp is very lovely using the traditional design patterns of flowers and hearts. The colors chosen (after much trial and consideration) bring out the best in the cachet while at the same time blending with the vivid hearts in the stamp design. The cachet format reminds

me somewhat of the style of Pennsylvania Dutch art, and I personally like it very much. This is one of the very few issues for 1984 for which an unofficial was unobtained. A single has the official "First Day of Issue" cancel from Washington, D.C. I don't know if you will "love" this cover, but you'll certainly like having it in your collection.
