Collins Cover Announcement

This is another of the Transportation Series and it is a very attractive cover. A pair is officially hand canceled "First Day of Issue" from Rosemont, Illinois. Since this First Day coincided with the 1984 Chicago Philatelic Fair, I decided to take advantage of the event to secure the unofficial for this COLLINS FDC. The theme for this year was child development and to the left of the nice slogan cancel is a small depiction of a child holding a globe with the caption "Tomorrow The World".

The handpainted cachet is a very nice one. It shows a train entering a mountain tunnel and in the foreground is the traditional red caboose. This is a very attractive cachet and you will enjoy having it in your collection. Railroad FDCs are a very popular topical (as I mentioned in my 2 Locomotive write-up)

and the whole Transportation Series has proven to be a favorite with collectors. Considering the R.R. theme, a very nice hand painted cachet, and a large philatelic unofficial (along with the "First Day of Issue" official) this is a very nice item to own.

Personal Note: During late April and through mid-May, I was on vacation with my family in Florida visiting with close friends and enjoying a side trip to Disney and Epcot.
