SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION

The excellent hand painted cachet is the dominant feature of this First Day Cover. The top half of the cachet is devoted to water conservation and the subsequent harnessing of this vital resource -- to prevent flooding and to provide energy and irrigation. The bottom half is dedicated to soil conservation. It shows a family farm in miniature -- barn, silos, house and out buildings. Carefully depicted is the method of contour plowing and planting which has dramatically reduced the problem of soil erosion. You will enjoy the exacting detail which necessitates hand painting with brushes having the smallest of bristles.

Due to winter weather conditions, I could not travel to the First Day City or obtain an unofficial. A single has the First Day of Issue machine cancel. Even without my usual unofficial, this conservation cachet makes the FDC an item worthy of acquisition. Item W7O1 - $5.00.
