Collins Cover Announcement

CREDIT UNION

The First Day City for this issue was Salem, MA which was the birthplace of Edward A. Filene, "Founder of Credit Unions in the United States". That is where a single was officially canceled.

A short distance and a quick drive to the south brought me to the community of Lynn. It was here that the first credit union in the United States was established. An additional single was unofficially hand canceled her..1 at the large and impressive Main Post Office.

The theme of the cachet is the opportunity for a better lifestyle that credit unions provide - through their savings and loan functions. A new house and a new car -- the two large purchases that most Americans equate with the good life -- are pictured. Also, a large key with a dollar sign is the symbolic representation of the credit union and the text states "The key to a better lifestyle". The stamps are done in very vivid colors and the individually hand painted cachet is also done in bright tones resulting in an unusual eye-catcher. Item #X701 - $5.50
