This captivating Latin music_entertainer was perhaps the most important singer in helping to popularize Tejano music by transforming it into Hip-Hop beats and disco dance movements. Billboard named her the "Top Latin Artist of the 1990s" and "the Best Selling Latin Artist of the Decade." Obviously, this beautiful vocalist deserves a prominent spot in this Latin Legend stamp series.

My hand painted cachet really captures the vibrant beauty of this young star who in 1993 won the Grammy Award for "Best Mexican-American Album." In 1994 her album "Amor Proitibido" was to become and remains the biggest selling Latin album of all time.

Tragically, the career and life of this young star were cut short when she was killed by a business associate at the age of 23. Two weeks after her death, Texas Governor George W. Bush declared her Birthday "Selena Day" in Texas. In 1997, Warner Brothers released a movie entitled "Selena" which was a film about her life. Jennifer Lopez played the starring role.
