American Treasures
The Long Leg by Edward Hopper
Collins Cover Announcement
Eward Hopper
Edward was a prominent American artist who gained fame for his superb oil paintings and watercolors. He was born in scenic Nyack, New York on the western bank of the Hudson River. From an early age, he had a fond interest in nautical subjects, and his first signed oil painting was "Rowboat in Rocky
Cove" completed in 1895.
My individually hand painted cachet pays tribute to Hopper's love of vessels as it depicts an early sailboat cruising past a picturesque lighthouse standing as a lone sentinel on a narrow sandy point. The lovely colors of the clouds and water make an absolutely beautiful setting for the light and boat.
In his teens, the young artist loved to work with pen-and-ink, charcoal, watercolors and oil, and his favorite subjects were nature and the various modes of water traffic on the mighty river which flowed near his home. I'm pleased to offer this watercolored cachet in honor of the famed Nyack artist who took his inspiration from the panoramic Hudson. Edward Hopper — Collins #K4901 at $14.00.
