This year's stamp features my favorite duck in terms of magnificent plumage. The male wood duck has such wonderful multi-colored feathers that to see one in the wild is one of nature's most special treats. The distinctive eyes are surrounded by two circles of red and orange set in an iridescent purple/blue field of delicate head feathers. Also on the head are different shades of green divided into lovely sections by thin, crisp borders of white. The duck 's bill is beautiful in its own right as it starts off with a deep red color which is defined by an inverted yellow "V" and then tapers into shades of vivid orange to light tangerine and is tipped by a very small black, crooked point. This is one extraordinary duck and each and every cachet is individually hand painted.

The postmark will be the large pictorial that is especially designed just for this first day of issue. The natural setting which will be used for this 2012 Collins "Duck" First Day Cover will maximize the visual effect of the bright and bold watercolors. You will love this cover!
