Flag in Summer

Manatee – Florida in Summer

Collins Cover Announcement

All Seasons

Marine Mammals Set of Four

MANATEE

The flag stamps for this issue are representative of the four seasons across the United States, so I decided to encompass the whole of America with my individually hand painted cachets. From the Northwest is an impressive bull walrus from Alaska. From the Northeast there is a single-tusked narwhal whale from the coast of Maffe. This time, representing the Southeast, is the beloved manatee from Florida. And, in a few weeks, from the Southwest will be the sleek and winsome sea lion from coastal California. This is a marvelous series of wildlife cachets featuring awesome marine mammals, and collector feedback has been great. Manatees, also known as sea cows, are large aquatic mammals that measure up to 13 feet in length and which can weigh as much as 1,300 pounds. Their movement through the water is propelled by paddlelike flippers and their diet consists mostly of water plants. Facial features include narrowly spaced eyes and a rather short snout. Except for mothers with young., the manatee is a solitary creature which spends most of its time gazing on aquatic plants.

My hand painted cachet is a "must" for lovers of wildlife. The Collins manatee is mostly submerged with just its head above the tranquil surface. The realistic colors bring this wonderful mammal to life as the natural details are captured by the artistic brushstrokes. This cover is a hobby gem, and I'm proud to offer the solitary and gentle manatee. Collins #C5202 —$14.00.
