New England Coastal Lighthouses

Point Judith Lighthouse, RI

Collins Cover Announcement

New England Coastal Lighthouses

Point Judith, Rhode Island

The present octagonal granite tower Was built in 1856, and its distinctive upper half paint makes it a more effective maritime reference point during daylight hours. A thirty-five foot lighthouse was first built on the site in 1810. Point Judith Light is located at the entrances of both Narragansett Bay and Block Island Sound, making its location very strategic for a busy water traffic area. Additionally, the waters around the lighthouse are very dangerous with many shipwrecks over the years.

My individually hand painted cachet for this cover is one I'm especially happy with. The color blends of sky, sea, and lighthouse all come together perfectly to make this a superb seacoast watercolor. Point Judith Light. Collins #H5204 at $14.00.
