Kaleidoscope

Fairy

From the magical mist of fantasy, legend, and folklore comes the small winged creature known as a fairy. In this individually hand painted cachet, a dainty fairy sits by a delicate wildflower. Also in this scene from the Land of Make-Believe are items that give scale and interest to the meadow floor. A bee hovers above a toadstool and a mushroom while a pair of acorns and a discarded snail shell lie on the ground. The characteristics of the diminutive mythical being include pointed ears and shoes as well as a pair of fragile wings. Aside from Tinkerbell in the Disney cachets, I think this is the first time a fairy

has appeared in a Collins cachet.

This is the fourth and final cover in my Kaleidoscope series. Please make sure you have all four before I sell out. The Fantasy subjects of these individually watercolored cachets capture the imagination of many in the lore of folk an and legend. They do not appear often on U.S. First Day Covers, and to be avaiable on one the hand painted set of four is indeed a rarity. Now available before she flies out of my stock is the tiny mysterious fairy.  Collins # L5104 — 14.00.
