"Sealed with Love"
Napoleon Bonaparte was a military and political leader who rose to power during the French Revolution. He was emperor of France from 1804 to 1815 and, because of his victories in war, he is considered one of the greatest military commanders of all time. My individually hand painted cachet shows him in uniform in the familiar pose of his hand tucked into his vest.
Napoleon married Josephine de Beauharnais in 1796, eight years before he became emperor. She is shown by his side in the cachet. Bonaparte often sent her love letters while he was away on his various military campaigns. On this cover, she reads from one, and a quote appears to the upper right. A wax seal was used to secure letters during this period, and one is visible on the envelope she holds in her left hand. It is the same type shown on the new stamp which is entitled "Sealed with Love."
Now available is my next Romantic Couples cachet — Napoleon and Josephine. Collins #R5101 at $14.00.
