Muscle Cars
1966 Pontiac GTO
The GTO was the result of the collaboration between engine specialist Russell Gee, chassis engineer Bill Collins (no relation), and Pontiac chief engineer John DeLorean. The first Pontiac GTO was produced in 1964. Two years later, the 1966 came out with more curved lines giving it a streamlined style and look. The tail lights featured louvered covers found only on the GTO, and plastic front grilles-(an automotive industry first) replaced the metal ones. The dash was highlighted with walnut veneer trim.
The 335 horsepower V8 engine moved the GTO from zero to 60 miles per hour in 6.8 seconds. My individually hand painted cachet features this car coordinated to the same color as the one on the new stamp as has been the case in my first four muscle car covers. Judging from my collector feedback, this mini-set has hit a home run with Collins collectors, and I'm pleased to offer the fifth and final cover in the set. The 1966 Pontiac GTO is now ready. Collins #T5105 at $14.00.
