Kwanzaa

Celebration of African-American Culture

Collins Cover Announcement

KWANZAA

Wildlife of the Homeland

Rhinoceros

Of the five species of rhinoceros, the white and black of Africa and the Sumatran have two horns. The white rhino (which is actually gray), featured in this individually hand painted cachet, has two horns which are clearly visible. The Indian and Javan rhinos only have one horn.

This formidable animal is very large with all five species able to reach one ton or more. They have thick, protective skin, and their diet consists of various plant life. A small brain and poor eyesight make them very dangerous when encountered in the wild.

This is an issue that I really look forward to each year as it gives me the opportunity to present the varied species of wildlife that roam the continent connected to this holiday. Kwanzaa celebrates family values, cultural tradetions, and enduring roots to Africa. Since the animals appearing in this series are ones not often appearing on United States stamps, it has become very popular with many collectors. If you need any of the back covers,

consider acquiring them now as most are getting low in supply.

The mighty rhinoceros as he roams his African domain is now ready. Collins #Y5201 —$14.00.
