Saber-Toothed Cat

This predatory animal is also known as a saber-toothed tiger. The domi, nating characteristic of these fearsome mammals were long, curved sabershaped canine teeth. Even when the mouth was closed, the 20-inch teeth were still exposed in their extended position. Prey for these excellent hunters were sloths, mammoths, and other large herbivores of their era.

The individually hand painted cachet shows one of the big cats sitting on a large rock gazing out over his domain. In the midst of a mighty roar, his saber-like teeth are prominently visible against the sky. Green ferns grow around the base of his rocky lookout. This prehistoric ancestor of the mountain lion joins the other three cachets offered to date: the woolly mammoth, the dire wolf, and the cave bear. Still to be announced is the fifth and final cover in this mini-series of five. The awesome and deadly saber-toothed cat is now available. Collins #G5305 at $15.00.
