Jimi Hendrix - Rock Guitarist

Collins Cover Announcement

Jimi Hendrix

The Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame has called Jimi "arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music." He is widely considered one of the best electric guitarists ever and has become one of the most celebrated American musicians of the 20th Century.

Born in Seattle on November 27, 1942, Johnny Allen Hendrix began playing guitar at age 15. In 1966 he moved to England and had three U.K. top hits. Fame in the U S -awaited him after his 1967 performance at the Monterey Pop Festival. In 1968 his album "Electric Ladyland" became number one in America.

The stamp design and dynamic colors seem perfect for a 1960's musician. It rocks! I really like the portrait style on the stamp and its swirling background. My hand painted cachet is designed to complement the distinctive stamp. A background of citrus colors such as tangerine, lime green, and lemon yellow make this cover a real eye-catcher. The portrait depicts Jimi caught up in his performance, and I must tell you I think this Collins cover will be considered one of the best of the year.

Melody Maker voted him "Pop Musician of the Year," Billboard named him "Artist of the Year," and Rolling Stone declared him "Performer of the Year" in 1968. Disc and Music Echo honored him as "World Top Musician" in 1969, and in 1970 Guitar Player named him "Rock Guitarist of the Year." He died on September 18, 1970.

The visually pleasing cachet for this talented musician is now ready. Hendrix was inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 and into the U.K Music Hall of Fame in 2005. Rolling Stone has now ranked him as "The Greatest Guitarist of all time." Jimi Hendrix — Collins #15301 at $14.00.
