Collins Cover Announcement

Harvey Milk

San Francisco Diversity Visionary

Harvey's strong commitment to serving a broad constituency made him an effective and popular leader and politician as a member of San Francisco's Board of Supervisors. He was an eloquent speaker with a good sense-of humor and had a proven ability to- build coalitions -between diverse groups. As one of the first openly gay elected officials in the United States, Milk believed that government should represent all citizens ensuring equality in the political process.

The individually hand painted cachets portray a glimpse of San Francisco - the city that Harvey loved and served. The new stamp has a portrait of Milk and with its bulls-eye first day of issue postmark is a nice complement to the colorful rendition of `Fricso. Tribute has been paid to him by the city of San Francisco which has named several locations after him. In 2009 he was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his "visionary courage and conviction in fighting discrimination." Harvey Milk is now ready. Collins #N5301 at $15.00.
