Civil War Sesquicentennial
General Joseph Hooker - Battle of Five Forks
Cover Announcement
This important set was happily embraced by cover and stamp collectors. The large and detailed stamps were issued over several years, and my cachet approach was a good representation of the battles on the new stamps and my own initiative of honoring five famous generals each from the Union and Confederate armies.
Some of the individually hand painted Collins covers are already sold out, and the others are in limited supply. My United States history and the Civil War specifically are both extremely popular collecting areas. As such. the various cachets in this set are destined to be sought in the hobby as times goes by. Get those you need now.
James Euell Broun (Jeb) Stuart was a Confederate general from Virginia. He was a cavalry commander and was an expert in the tactical use of cavalry in support of offensive operations. Sruart was also very proficient in reconnaissance which made him the trusted ''eyes and ears'' of General Lee. He dressed with a flair to cultivate a dashing cavalry officer image wearing a red-lined cape, yellow sash, cocked hat with an ostrich plume, and red flower in his lapel. The talented and flamboyant general was mortally wounded at the Battle of Yellow Tavern. and his widow wore black for the rest of her life.
It is with great pleasure that I bring this Civil War set to its conclusion. Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart is now ready. Collins #P5404 at $15.00.
