Cover Announcement
In July of 1969, the United States of America launched a mission with the goal of making a manned landing on the moon. Astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins comprised the crew of this historic flight.
My individually hand painted cachet pictures the three in their space suits minus the helmets. The really nice circular moon stamp with blue border is tied to the envelope with a first day of issue bullseye postmark. It's a gem and will become a treasure within the hobby.
Armstrong was an aerospace engineer, naval aviator, test pilot, and university professor. Neil was the first human to walk on the moon on July 21, 1969. Aldrin is an engineer and former astronaut. He also was a U.S. Air Force command pilot. Buzz followed Armstrong and became the second person to walk on the moon. Collins is a former astronaut and test pilot. He retired from the U.S. Air Force with the rank of Major General. While Armstrong and Aldrin walked on the moon's surface, Michael stayed in orbit around the moon as command module pilot.
