ln many cultures, the mythology mentions tales of sea dragons as well as those who live on land. In the 13th Century, Norse mythology tells of Thor, the God of Thunder, going to sea seeking a giant serpent-like dragon. Other regions, likewise, have legends of ocean-dwelling dragons.

My individually hand painted cachet shows such a creature rising from the depths. Nearby, a Viking ship with billowing sail is bearing down on it. Of note is the serpent head on the bow which was a design on many of these Norse ships.
