Mister Rogers

Fred McFeely Rogers, known as Mister Rogers

Cover Announcement

Mister Rogers' Neighborhood was a children's television show founded and hosted by Fred Rogers. It had its U.S. debut on February 19, 1968 and went on to become the longest-running kids' show until July 2002 when Sesame Street assumed the record. It was primarily for preschool audiences.

At the beginning of each show, a model of the neighborhood was shown on the screen as a red trolley crossed several streets from left to right. During the show, this same trolley "transported" viewers to different places in the "Neighborhood of Make Believe." Mr. Rogers then talked to various residents about their jobs and interests. As each episode ended, the red trolley was seen exiting the neighborhood in the opposite direction from right to left.

My individuailly hand painted cachet shows a red trolley and is symboiic of all the countless visits to the wonderful world of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. This very gentle and highly informative show was a favorite of they young children in the Collins household, and I'm very pleased to now- honor Fred Rogers. The Red Trolley - Collins #R5701 at $15.00.
