Woodstock Music Festival

50th Anniversary

Cover Announcement

Max Yasgur's dairy farm in Bethel, New York, transformed from a tranquil rural setting to "3 days of peace and music" attended by more than 400,000 groovy individuals. The music festival that was to become known simply as "Woodstock" took place August 15th to 18th in 1969, and a total of 32 acts performed outdoors despite periods of heavy rain. In fact, the memories were the music followed by the quagmire of mud. It was the signature happening of the Hippie era.

My hand painted cachet vividly recalls the 60's with a bightly colored Volkswagen van and two "flower people" dancing to their own vibes. This distinctive first day cover celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock. It has widely been regarded as a special moment in the music history of the United States. It was, of course, the defining event of the counterculture generation.

ln 2017 the site of Yasgur's dairy farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places because of the musical "flower power" mega-event held there n 1969. The Woodstock cover is now ready. Peace. Collins #B5901 at $16.50.
