Northern Leopard Frog

This fairly large frog varies in color from green to brown and has circular spots on its back, sides, and legs. They have a wide range of habitats including ponds, swamps, marshes, and slow-moving streams. In the summer they often move to meadows, fields, and even lawns. Their diet consists of crickets, flies, worms, and smaller frogs.

My individually hand painted cachets show two of these frogs in a shallow pond. Note details such as the half-submerged log that serves as a sitting platform; the watery reflections of the rose-colored dawn sky; the three tadpoles summming nearby; and the variefy of vegetation that creates such a natural setting for this aquatic scene from nature.
