Cover Announcement 

This is the third Fair cover in the mini-set of four. Across the country, adolescents often raise and care for a farm animal to ultimately enter in competitions, most notably at fairs. These older children can be from independent rural farm families or from groups such as 4-H clubs. Often the animals chosen are pigs, calves, cows, sheep, and goats. In this individually hand painted cachet, the lad in the yellow shirt is the proud winner with his Blue Ribbon hog. A small group of admirers has gathered to congratulate him and admire his magnificent champion.

To the left is a wooden barrel which has a display of flowers, and behind that a customer considers freshly picked cabbages. A red and gold awning provides some measure of shade from the sun, a young girl holds a red balloon, and a rope of multi-colored pennants fly overhead. In our heartland, Americans pursue their long-awaited days of enjoyment at the fair.
