Old Red Barn

Cold Weather Refuge

Proceeding past a multi-generational farmhouse, the old red barn is of special importance. It provides shelter for the livestock and particularly in the winter season, it is a cold weather refuge. Baled hay in the loft and grain in the silo provide food forthe animals during the non-growing season. It is the mainbarn on the farm due to its size and central location. A distinctive red cat named Annie makes the warm, spacious barn its home and helps to control the population of rodents. Early in the morning at milking time, Annie can expect a fresh bowl of milk to start her day.
