Women Sufferage Centenary
19th Amendment
Rally Demonstrations
Cover Announcement
The limited edition individually hand painted cachet is entirely different from my previously announced X5901 cover which featured three prominent leaders of the Women's Rights Movement.
My cover depicts a rally demonstration in 1866 planned by Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton to promote membership in their new Women's Moverment Group - The American Equal Rights Association.
Four women create a focal point for those in attendance. One holds a symbolic ballot box and a sign proclaiming, "Help us to Win the Vote." Next in line is an enthusiastic lady beating a big bass drum which says "Equal Suffiage League." The boom, boom, boom is certainly an attention getter. The third young demonshator in line holds a banner. Leading leadership to the group is a fourth woman who is wearing a sash with the words "Vote for Women." She can be seen offering verbal encouragement to the goup.
The watercolors used coordinate perfectly with the color in the new stamp. This is a really nice cachet which captures
the Women's Movement from so long ago. It is also a great Collins first day cover to commemorate the 19th Amendment ratified 100 years ago. Linda and I dedicate this cover to our daughters, daughters-in-law, granddaughters, and granddaughter-in-law. Women's Vote Rally - Collins #X5902 - $16.50.
