Lesser Snow Geese by John Henson
Fred's Anecdotal Note
1990 ILLINOIS
The third MILFORD is one that boasts of a very high State Stamp denomination -- ten dollars. The stamp issue shows two Snow Geese flying low over an expansive winter cornfield. For my hand-painted cachet, I chose to keep the cornfiald setting and show four of the regal geese searching the snow-blanketed field for ears of corn missed at harvest time. The browned remnants of cornstarks in their symmetric rows present a visually pleasing setting as the quartet of white geese enjoys breakfast in the fresh snow. The entire scene is bathed in the rosy sunlight of a mid-western dawn.
Serial numbers used are 661 to 925 except 705, 706, 728, 898, 899, and 900.
