This cover has a plate pair hand canceled at Hot Springs National Park, AR (small bullseye first day of issue cancel). The opposite pair is hand canceled in magenta at Pine Bluff, AR. This first day took place on Columbus Day when post offices were closed due to the national holiday. Subsequently, there were very few unofficials by cachetmakers. At that time, Pine Bluff was a 24-hour regional post office at which mail was processed even on holidays. The lovely hand painted cachet is individually painted in watercolors. Only 77 of this cancel variety were produced.
