Collins Cover Announcement
HONEYBEE
A Town Called "Bee " May 1988
American Bee Journal
Bee, Nebraska Celebrates
Centennial
A Honey of a Town a town. If Bee, Nebrasks can proclaim itself a "Honey of a Town" I guess it is fair to say this Collins is a "Honey of a Cover". My unofficial First Day cancel for this stamp that was issued in Omaha once again demonstrates my commitment to provide COLLINS collectors with top-notch collectibles. In the May 1988 issue of the American Bee Journal (see article) they profiled the centennial celebration of a town called Bee.
Could there bee any doubt that a cancel there would bee perfect for the up-coming Honeybee issue. Obtained during the town's centennial year would only bee icing on the cake (or ..... honey in the pot).
The hand-painted cachet is a fine one that could easily fit into a nature or wildlife topical collection. One bee busily extracts pollen from a wildflower while two others are attracted by flowering clover. This is an "entire" cachet and it "wraps around" the stamp and Bee, Nebraska First Day cancel for a design layout I've never used bee-fore. It is extremely attractive-, and I recommnd it very highly. The bees and blossoms are shown quite close up and in good detail which makes for a colorful and interesting FOC. The cancel is large and distinctive and will make this, combined with the lovely cachet, the best FOC produced for this issue. It bee-longs in your hive. Item #S1401 - $7.50.
