Christmas Wildlife
Snowy Owl -- "Forest Sunrise"
Collins Cover Announcement
WINTER WILDLIFE
Christmas 1989
Second of a Continuing Series
"Snowy Owl - Forest Sunrise"
A contrast that will startle you by its intriguing beauty - an explosion of early morning sunrise penetrates an opening in the deep woods. Layers of snow weigh down the evergreen boughs of hemlock and spruce in a dense conifer forest. Undisturbed snow covers the ground in this cathedral type setting. It is just beyond dawn and the grays and deep greens of the night are disappearing but still evident. It is a silent, peaceful place. A place of hushed beauty.
In grand fashion, two fascinating assaults are made simultaneously on the tranquil stillness. Beyond the snow-laden limbs, the tall sentinel-like tree trunks and the cool colors of the early winter morning, an opening in the forest canopy lets in a dazzling display. An intense concentration of orange and red sunlight announces the start of another day. This transition of dawn into day is captured in a way you've never experienced before and is an example of cachet art you will treasure in your collection.
As is seldom the case, this already beautiful scene is actually enhanced by another intruder into the quiet splendor of the forest morning. For joining the explosion of sunrise color is an explosion of feathers as a magnificent, snowy owl swoops toward you. This dreaded denizen of the night is retreating from th.. new day. The lovely coloring of the owl blends with the winter hues of snow and shadows. The wingspan is awesome.
Tailfeathers frame the deadly talons. The piercing yellow eyes betray the gentle elegance of the predator's silent flight.
You will truly enjoy this second COLLINS Christmas Wildlife.
